Bought my first gaming laptop

Update everything.
And get more updates from hp site.
Then debloat windows (if you want).
Then test out gaming performance using msi afterburner.
Monitor temps.
Yeah thats pretty much it.
Keep your laptop elevated (while gaming)

Hey mate.
Can you run Firestrike from guru3d and share the link of the benchmark? I have similar spec but it’s an OMEN, supposedly higher tier than Victus. I wanna know what would be the difference in max and average temperature between these models. It’s just 10gb download.

If your temps are too high you should repaste. HP does a bad paste job

My 2050 victus crying rn

Windows uses a lot of ram, 32gb of ram is enough if you don’t wanna open more than 2 aaa games at once

I got the same one a week ago during Best Buys sale, that had it for $899. I’m loving mine, have fun with yours

Nice laptop. And congratulations bro.

A fresh clean install is always a good choice, but keep in mind that if you have more ram (currently unused), windows will store stuff into RAM so windows runs faster.

“Hey OP, it’s normal for PCs to use around half of the RAM when in idle mode, even when nothing is currently running. That’s because Windows uses Superfetch, a program that increases the performance of Windows by pre-loading apps you frequently use into RAM before you open them. This is essentially a free performance boost, as otherwise, the extra RAM would be wasted. Don’t worry, the cache will empty itself out if the RAM is needed elsewhere.”

The amount of RAM used by this cache can scale up or down depending on how much RAM you have, so adding more RAM will result in Windows using more. If you want to troubleshoot SuperFetch, follow these instructions to disable it.

@Eli
Thanks so much

How much was it?

About $1200 usd

Nice, we have the same specs.
Also the RAM issue could be caused because HP likes to install 50 different bloatware software to their devices.

As somebody whose first gaming laptop melted itself just make sure you keep an eye on the temperatures when you play demanding games.

I would second the suggestions to get a cooling pad as it’s a simple way to improve the lifespan. You can even get cooling pads which can sit on your lap.

Also I recommend that once or twice a year you open it up and get rid of any dust inside it with compressed air.

No point paying the money if you don’t look after it properly right?

Good luck wasting time

Like the time you wasted typing that? Or the time I’m wasting replying to you? Everything’s a waste of time if you zoom out far enough. Fuck you.
