This one has a soldered RAM so you can’t upgrade it. 16GB is enough for everything but is going to be a bit more challenging in the future. I’d say $400 for an extra 16GB isn’t worth it, so just go with 16GB or wait for another offer.
@Oli
It’s an upgrade to a 4070 + extra 16GB of RAM.
Honestly, wait on a sale. 16GB is typically enough on average, but if you do video editing or use virtual machines, the extra RAM helps. For multitasking in general, the system won’t crash from using all of it at once. Either wait for a sale or find another computer with upgradeable RAM.
@Blake
There are also way cheaper options for similar specs on Best Buy.
IMO wait until the price lowers; it can go down to $1,250.
16GB is the bare minimum. If you’re going to edit video, I’d go for 32GB. Playing a game and having Discord and a bunch of browser tabs open can easily use up 16GB.
If you do productivity, then the 32GB is your best option. I have it for my software development major, and I’m glad I got it. Sucks that Asus makes you pay $400 extra for 32GB though. There’s an entire subreddit for this laptop if you want to look into it further.
This is a way better deal and it’s upgradable. I have this model and upgraded to 32GB RAM and added a 2TB SSD. Works great! Link
Most people are lucky these days because the Page File (Swap File) is on an SSD. They don’t notice a drag, but it still wears the SSD down. If I used 32GB RAM instead of 64GB, my main SSD would be out of warranty in 220 days. I did the math.

What the heck are you doing out there, bro!?

AI workload. The lightest demand will spike 45GB RAM used just for the application, 53GB overall. 64GB is the maximum RAM kit I could find. Literally need to wait for a 128GB kit to exist.
16GB is not enough for me personally. I consider Cities Skylines a very casual game, but it used to take around 10 minutes just to start with 16GB until I upgraded.
