Have I made a mistake?

Hi Warriors, I’m a new member. I bought a refurbished Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 with Ryzen 9 6900HX, RTX 3080 Ti from Amazon for 1.66 Lakhs this month. When it arrived the accessories that was mentioned in the description of the product was missing. The laptop in general comes with Rog Ranger BP2071Backpack, Rog Delta Headset, Rog Chakram Core Mouse and an Arm Rest. I only got the mouse with the laptop and the adaptor. I have raised a complaint regarding this and the team has asked me whether I want to return the product. I’m in a confusion now. The secondary display is a game changer for me. It has increased my productivity to the next level. But I’m missing those accessories. What should I do with the laptop? Should I return it or keep it? Is RTX 3080 Ti worthy? Also please take into consideration about the secondary screen and other features. Is the top of the series laptop that I have with me is worth for 1.66 Lakhs? Pls note that the warranty is valid till August 2025. The use cases are running local llms and gaming. Can I please get you valuable opinions and suggestions? I have contacted the seller and found out that he is a scammer. He get hands on such devices and sells the other accessories that was included with the laptop seperately.

try and reason with the seller that you have already started using the product and it is completely okay and you only seek that they provide the missing elements of the order or do a partial refund since the main product is fine but the accessories didn’t come as advertised, so it’s a case of an incomplete order that you want to resolve rather than a return or refund for other reasons.

@Rory
I have contacted the seller. He started abusing me of expecting all the accessories while I paid less. He was shouting at me. I have contacted Amazon later regarding this and told them that I will file a complaint in the consumer court. Then after an hour the contacted me again and said nicely that they will ask Asus for the accessories and if they get hands on the accessories they will definitely send them to me. Else they said they will look into something they can do to compensate. I have asked them for a reasonable refund as the accessories can’t be bought seperately in India. They denied this at first. But later told me that they will look into this if they are unable to get the accessories.

@Neve
I’m sorry you were treated badly, those jerks don’t understand that no matter if it’s a deal you should still get what’s advertised, good call on mentioning the consumer court, hopefully this will be resolved.

On the bright side, the seller being rude makes a good case for you if you ever need to go to court or have some consumer rights organization mediate for you, you will be at an advantage thanks to that idiot.

If things get tangled contact your local consumer rights organization or even if you paid through some card you issue a charge back with your card provider or bank so they can mediate and solve the situation too, just don’t give up! in these cases you just have to be really persistent and annoying lol.

Just thoroughly check if the laptop is working properly if it is then no need to return it in my opinion

If the laptop is in good condition, this one is a keeper. See how necessary those accessories are to you, and like another comment said try to reason with the seller.

Seems overpriced for a refurbished device and you got scammed. Return

If you really like the laptop, see if you can get a partial refund if the accessories were listed as part of the purchase.

Its great for multitasking, if gpu is of full wattage as a 3080ti then it will outperform 4070. Plus more vram and second display too. What’s the cost of new ?

Around 3 Lakhs for new.

@Neve
Good deal imo

Very good deal for this model, but not the best in terms of CPU & GPU
Try to negotiate a refund for the missing accessories…
And if you decide to keep the laptop, go to asus website and extend the warranty :sneezing_face:

I wouldbt buy that combo. 3080ti is minimally stronger than 3070ti and 6900hx is basically Zen 3.

|| || |Crystal Disk Mark - for checking ssd speed| |Keyboard Tester - type in google and visit any website and press keys on keyboard to check if it’s working| |multi gesture, and clicks for trackpad | |Check Ports by Connecting| |Dead Pixel Test - for display you can also check the bleeding in the display| |Battery Report - open cmd type powercfg /batteryreport| |Cinebench R23 - for CPU scores| |Blender Benchmark - for GPU| |Geekbench - for both CPU and GPU| |Crossmark - for overall performance |

and also check if there are any physical dents

Why is sending it back the only option? They should just send you the backpack, headset and armrest, and then you’ll have everything you paid for.

Considering a 4080 is more expensive by about 400 dollars than what you paid in the US. I would say you got a good buy. I am not sure about the market values in India but I would recommend you shop around for the same laptop and see what you get for the same price. It isn’t a big difference just keep it, if you are losing out on a lot. Definitely return it.

@Dru
I tried to get a 4080 laptop in India. The price of 4080 and 4090 laptops in India is twice that of US. Thanks to the fu€k!ng TAXES, then I thought of importing one. Thanks again for the unbearable customs duty and process. I saw a certified refurbished Lenovo Legion Pro 7i with i9 14th gen and RTX 4090 for around 1900$. It was a great deal and I missed it as there was no way to get the laptop from USA to India. Due to bomb threats the flight ticket was so cheap that I could fly to USA and then return with the laptop and still it will come under the price in India. Here in India, I believe the market for such a high end laptop is very less.

Yes.
