How Do High Laptop Prices Impact Buyers in Australia

This is from the official Lenovo website.

And that’s just for the current generation. What will next-gen GPUs bring

@Ezra
Paying over 3k USD is just outrageous

@Ezra
It’s nearly impossible to find a 4080 laptop for under 50k pesos, about 2500 USD, in Mexico

@Ezra
This seems reasonable compared to prices in my area

@Ezra
100k in USD?! Are we talking about a hundred thousand dollars?!

Do Mexican pesos also use the dollar sign? Isn’t that confusing

Everything in Australia is trying to get you, even the prices

That’s 100k in Mexican pesos, which is about 5000 US dollars. Still, the price is steep compared to what you’d get in the US at a place like Micro Center

Let’s not embarrass ourselves, fellow Americans

Only 1 terabyte of storage?!

It seems like every model from every brand only offers a single 1TB SSD, which doesn’t make sense

Better to buy from regular stores. Some of them inflate the base prices to make their sales look more impressive, which is basically standard practice. I saw a 4090 for 4500 AUD at Centrecom

It’s not just the local wildlife that’s deadly in Australia

As a Canadian who’s visited Australia and seen your prices, I’m shocked. The Australian and Canadian dollars are almost on par. These laptops would be about 2600-2900 CAD here. It’s insane, considering everything was only about 10% more expensive than in Canada when I visited, except for Coca-Cola

@Frances
They might be that cheap eventually with deep discounts, but now they’re over 4K
