Is this too expensive?
Make sure the RAM can be upgraded, and consider getting 16GB of RAM to go with it. This is an incredible deal for its features. Grab it as soon as you can.

I’m pretty sure this model allows for upgrades.

How does the mechanical keyboard feel? I supposedly have one on my laptop and can’t really tell the difference from a membrane keyboard, unlike when I use my desktop’s keychron, which is obviously mechanical.
@Hartley
There’s definitely a difference for me because I type faster and find that membrane keyboards wear out more quickly, which is why I prefer mechanical ones. My only gripe with this keyboard is the lack of a numpad, which the M18 model has.
@Haven
Fair point. I mean, I can tell it’s mechanical by pressing the buttons, but it doesn’t feel as satisfying or impactful as my desktop keyboard. Do you have a comparison point, or is it just the laptop?
@Hartley
I have a standard Dell mechanical keyboard at home for my desktop. Comparing that to my laptop, there’s a night and day difference mainly because the key travel is much shorter on the laptop.

Thanks for clarifying! I assumed as much but haven’t tried other mechanical keyboard laptops to compare. They’re definitely responsive, just the travel and actuation feel different.
@Hartley
Honestly, I think mechanical keyboards on laptops are a bit overkill. You can’t swap out the switches, and most people would be better off with an external keyboard, which feels much better.

Yes, it’s upgradable to 32GB.

Alienware models usually support upgrades. I’d buy it even if the RAM were soldered!

What a deal, almost too good to be true. Buy it now!
Mine didn’t come with a power pack. The 330W slim ones are about $100 second-hand on eBay.
It’s listed as ‘open box - fair condition,’ which makes me wonder about the exterior’s condition.

Probably just some visible scratches, likely from being a display model. Just cover it with a skin, and you’re saving a bundle.
