If you don’t consider AI frames, then the 4080 is better than the 5070Ti based on specs. Here’s why:
Key Factors for RTX 4080 Laptop GPU:
- CUDA Core Count:
RTX 4080: 7,424 CUDA cores.
RTX 5070 Ti: 5,888 CUDA cores.
- Power Envelope:
RTX 4080: 60-150W TGP.
RTX 5070 Ti: 60-115W TGP.

Funny how last month everyone was saying the 5070Ti was better. I remember that.

I don’t recall that at all, and I’m here every day.

People were really buying into Jensen’s claims about 5070 being better than 4090.
@Rowan
People can be quite gullible.

I would buy a 4080 if it came with the model and CPU I want. For some reason, the HX 370 was never offered with anything better than the 4070.
@Tenny
Here’s my concern: They know the 4080 is strong enough for a few years, but they’re pushing the 5080 on gaming laptop fans. It’s frustrating how they’re limiting the 5070Ti. It could have been a real winner.

It’s sad if people think AI frames are the same as real ones. But with how Nvidia markets, you can’t really blame them.

I partly agree, but frame generation does help with GPU longevity. Still, I’d pick any last-gen top-tier over a current-gen mid-tier.

Single frame generation is decent on AMD’s side.
@Ellington
On AMD’s side? Come on.

Now how does the 5070 Ti compare to the 4070?

If it wasn’t then what would be the point?

Can you compare the 5070Ti to my 1660Ti? I do say positive affirmations when I turn it on.

The 5070Ti will likely perform better than the 4070. They both have the same CUDA cores and VRAM, but I can see the 5070 being worse than the 4070.
@Tenny
We need to check the clocks too. More CUDA cores aren’t always better if one has a much higher clock. But yes, the difference is significant.
