Yes if it’s just to be used as a stream machine while the gameplay comes from a console. No if they’re going to be using it to game and stream at the same time on this machine.
Edit: But I’ll highly recommend getting something with 16gb of ram and a stronger GPU for future proofing, i.e being able to record in a higher quality, (1440p or 4k) while streaming in 720-1080p. But the laptop you chose is still great for streaming consoles
@Noor
Thanks for the info. I meant to say to stream through his Xbox series X or to record his Xbox gameplay.

In your experience, which would be the specs (minimun) of a laptop to handheld stream?

Probably a 7th gen i5 or a 3rd gen ryzen 5 laptop cpus, and an nvidia 2060 or one of the AMD 4000 series laptop gpus, with 8gbs of ram.
Just extra below.
You probably wouldn’t need a GPU because in streaming programs like obs or streamlabs, you can set the stream to run off the CPU but if you’re having issues, you can switch it to run off the GPU so that’s why it’s good to have both.
Also, since you can stream with just the CPU, you can record in the background using the GPU.
All of this is better explained elsewhere but just for starters, most laptops, if not all, with an i5 or a ryzen 5 can handle streaming.
@Noor
I get solid framerates & visuals on this laptop dGPU.
@Noor
i have an asus tuf laptop with 16 gb ram i5 11400h and rtx 3050 i have streamed gta 5 on ultra settings with 1080p stream it stream’s with no problems

Thanks, I ended up getting the Walmart HP Victus 15.6 inch FHD 144Hz Gaming Laptop Intel Core i5-13420H NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 6GB - 16GB DDR4 512GB SSD instead.
@Kiran
Same price??

50 dollars more

Than you shouldn’t be getting a dGPU laptop as it eats battery and takes up extra space, you need a good Ultrabook for just streaming.
The specs of this laptop are perfectly decent for 1080/60 locally rendered gaming for most games that have been released in the last decade.
Good to watch streams, or remote play a console yes.
To play and stream that simultaneously, no. Also keep in mind that this is more on the low end of the range, which is perfect for indie and older games, but cant keep up with current games and quality

Sounds perfect for that, i would say good choice and great savings too. Just teach him straight away to keep it clean and elevated so it can breathe, like absolutely no streaming when having it sit on bedsheets or other soft surfaces, it will suck in dust and last allot shorter, not to mention the temperatures.
Made this mistake with my first laptop and got practically laughed at at the computer store when i went to bring it for service (beside the shame) since i had my flair laptop wich is already close to 5 years old and kept it clean, it performs lightyears better than a higher performance but badly cared for laptop. (Yeah looking at you people that think it should work in whatever condition and not cleaning it)

It’s one of the better deals I’ve seen, over the last year. Sad thing is this was going for the same price in 2023 because I was looking for a laptop then.
