I love how the fact that laptops are portable fits perfectly here

4060s are pretty close to PCs

That’s a valid statement. Check out this video for more info.

Wasn’t the 3060 also basically the same between laptop and desktop minus the VRAM difference?

Very similar performance with best case scenario laptop and desktop. However the desktop RTX 3060 8 GB VRAM exists and the RTX 3060 12 GB VRAM is faster in games over the 8 GB VRAM card. So, this means the RTX 3060 laptop is about halfway between the RTX 3060 8 GB and 12 GB VRAM desktop cards in gaming performance.

@Haven
They really should have done better with the 4070 laptop. It’s not as good as it’s desktop counterpart with only 8gb too.

This might be a dumb question but the rtx 4070 for laptops is still better than the rtx 4060 for laptops, right?

@Luca
Yes, if both are laptops they’re both somewhat weaker than PC versions but still maintain the same hierarchy as their PC counterparts. From the best 4090 through 4080, 4070, 4060, and 4050 being the worst in terms of performance. Same with the 30s: 3090, 3080, 3070, 3060, and 3050 having the lowest performance. Doesn’t matter whether PC or laptop, the hierarchy stays the same

@Jai
Thanks for clarifying! I see people saying the 4070 is bad though so for example if you saw a 4060 laptop for 1100 and a 4070 laptop with all the same specs otherwise for 1300, do you think it’s not worth paying 1300 for the 4070 then?

@Luca
I absolutely love my 4080 but I heard that 4070 is the best bang for your buck. Don’t take my word for it though, I don’t really know the stats just repeating what I’ve seen here.

We should have more information to fill this comment properly.

@Jai
It’s actually worse than an RTX 3060ti let alone RTX 4060.

GTX 10 series was like this, a mistake NVIDIA never did again.

My last gaming laptop had an RTX 3080, which was on par with my RTX 2060 Super Desktop PC…

@Fox
The 4060 100w laptop is no joke then. I just did some benchmarks and its about equal to a 2060 super desktop.

@Fox
What was the tgp? My laptop has a 120w RTX 3080 and it is nearly as fast as my friend’s desktop 3060ti.

I’ve got the 3050 on a laptop and that thing is not the same as desktop 3050

@Lin
In the case of the 3050 mobile GPU, NVIDIA was very dishonest with its naming. The laptop GPU called 3050 was a different GPU altogether. It should have been labeled a 3040, but was named a SKU higher to increase its perceived value.

@Zeek
Didn’t understand the place of 4050. I have a 4050 laptop so should I consider this as a 4040 as well? Did the same thing happen to 4050 like it did to 3050’s?
