Looking for a $1000 Laptop Without Buyer's Remorse—Any Recommendations?

I found 4 laptops I am considering for my first gaming laptop purchase but I don’t want to regret it and find out I got the wrong one.

Which one should I get for the 1k price point ? I want to play games at high to ultra high settings over 60 FPS and also productivity and maybe stream. What screen would be the best option ?

Consider a laptop with an RX 7700S. It performs similarly to a 4060, and you can often find the ASUS TUF on sale for less. If not on sale, then maybe consider the G15.

How’s the build quality and performance with Dell? I thought they were a reputable brand?

@Val
I’ve been using a G15 for gaming for years. It’s survived a 2-meter fall with no major damage, so it’s pretty durable in my experience.

@Val
Brand doesn’t always guarantee quality. It often comes down to the specific product and its price.

There aren’t many options out there with an RX 7700S, though.

Walmart has some good deals right now, one with a better GPU for $899 and another with a better CPU for $849, both with larger SSDs.

Sure! Here’s the $849 model with a 4060 and 8945HS CPU: Walmart Link. And here’s the $899 model with a 4070 GPU: Walmart Link. I did a lot of research and even made a spreadsheet to find the best deal for my needs. These models offer great value and performance for their price.

@Alby
Thanks! With the 4070 model, can I expect to play games at ultra-high settings with 60-80 FPS?

Yes, but keep in mind that model lacks an integrated GPU, so expect shorter battery life.

Here’s another link to a Lenovo LOQ with great specs for under $1000: Walmart Link

@Mika
What would be a great deal for a 4060 laptop?

Anything under $800 would be a steal.

Prices are crazy where I am. I paid $3000 for my Scar 18. You might find open box deals for much less.

Look for something around $700-800 with at least 100% sRGB screen quality.

Stay away from Gigabyte. I’d go with Lenovo, personally.

Between Gigabyte, Dell, LOQ, and HP, I’d say HP or Lenovo offer the best balance of performance and build quality.

Just be wary of HP’s hinge issues. Lenovo might be a safer bet.
