My First Actual Gaming Laptop

At 34 years young, while my friends are immersed in trading stocks and navigating life’s complexities, I decided to indulge in a new adventure. My previous laptop was an HP Pavilion, which I bought back in 2017 for 999 euros when I returned to school. It wasn’t marketed as a gaming laptop, but it handled games surprisingly well. Now, I needed something more robust for heavy-duty engineering tasks and gaming. I just invested in a laptop that seems ready to handle the next five years with ease. Specs: ASUS ROG STRIX SCAR 17, AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX, 32 GB RAM (extendable to 64), RTX 4080 GPU, 1TB SSD.

With specs like 7945HX and RTX 4080, you’re getting some of the best performance right out of the box. It’s a top choice for those who prefer a 16:9 screen ratio. Wish it had a miniLED screen option though!

@Daryn
The screen type didn’t bother me much as I plan to use a second monitor, which I’ll need to upgrade soon as well.

Happy for you, man! I’m picking up a Lenovo Legion 5 Pro with the same Ryzen 9 7945HX and an RTX 4070 this Saturday. It’s important we all pursue things that bring us joy.

Have a great time with it!

Nice! I didn’t know you could get Legions with Ryzen 9s where I’m from; they’re all Intel. Maybe I should consider a Ryzen instead of an Intel i7 14th Gen—what do you think?

That’s a very powerful setup you’ve got—perfect for 1440P gaming.

Enjoy it! What a beast of a machine.

You’re going to love the power! I have the same specs in a Legion 7. I chose Lenovo over ASUS due to the warranty services I’ve needed in the past.

Welcome to the club, Brother!

Enjoy it!

Play GTA 5!

Congrats!

Hell yeah, man. Awesome! I just got my first gaming laptop too—an Alienware. So much fun. Enjoy!
