"Portable", whats your take on this?

Discussing the ‘portability’ of laptops, especially when it comes to battery life and performance.

Shinji, stop playing on battery power.

Desktop users: Wait, you guys can run on battery power for 3 seconds?

My lower-end laptop with Iris Xe graphics is pushed to its limits to run Fortnite at at least 40 fps.

Lmao, I also try to run Fortnite on my 14-inch Iris Xe notebook. I use lossless scaling to make it look decent.

@Sidney
I’ve pushed mine to the max; don’t even need lossless scaling, haha.

I upgraded from Intel Iris Xe to a GTX 1060 mobile. Best advice? Try unusual resolutions and settings like FSR and XESS. I managed to get Fortnite running at 70 fps at 960x540 resolution.

@Pip
I have the i5 version with 16GB RAM. Somehow, I’ve managed to run Fortnite at 40-50 fps at 1600p.

Honestly, my laptop with the 1335u processor can barely handle 10 fps, and the battery drains incredibly fast.

Battery power is good for movies, old games, and email, right? Like the first cell phones—charge 10 hours for 35 minutes of use. I recently saw a short video about those old brick phones.

Old phones used to last a week on a single charge!

@Daryn
I think they meant the really old phones, not the ones from just 10-13 years ago.

Exactly, they’re talking about the massive brick phones from decades ago that took hours to charge for very minimal use.

My first cellphone was a Siemens S45 from 1999. It lasted 8 days on a 2-hour charge, and it was already second-hand when I got it in 2002.

“PLUG IN THE CHARGER, SHINJI!!!”

But that means no fighting in the neighborhood yard.

Yes, but only for 4 minutes and 59 seconds!

Wait, you guys are getting a whole 5 hours?!

Nah… that’s just a whole 5 minutes.

Real time to laptop battery time is like human years to dog years. “5 hours battery life remaining” often translates to about 1.5 hours or just enough time to collect the daily loot box and log out.

At least we don’t need a UPS if a power outage happens.
