RTX 5090 Laptops Might Get 24GB VRAM, New Leak Suggests

These are probably going to cost over $4000 each.

That’s normal for high-end hardware, though prices might drop later, similar to the 4090 and 3080ti.

The 4090 prices haven’t dropped much, especially compared to the 3080 ti…

@Reign
The 4090 laptops stayed around $2500 with discounts. The top 4080 models were about $2000, which isn’t too bad given the performance gain over the 3080ti.

I think $4000 is reasonable for a laptop with 24GB VRAM. I chose a 3080 with 16GB for $1500 last year instead of a pricier 4090.

You get what you pay for. If you can’t afford a $4000 laptop, then don’t buy one.

I get where you’re coming from, but the prices have really shot up. I bought a top-spec Legion 7 for £2000 at launch in 2021. Just two years later, the new version was almost £3500, and now they’re predicting around £4000-£5000 for the latest models.

@Joey
The Legion 7 launched over $3000 in the US with an RTX 3080. You must have got it on sale in the UK for £2000.

Actually, I bought it for £2008 in July 2021 from Overclockers UK. I was tracking the stock daily.

@Joey
Ever heard of inflation?

Corporations use ‘inflation’ as an excuse, while their profit margins grow significantly larger than their costs.

@Joey
Flagship specs are always going to be expensive as technology advances. Some people just can’t accept they can’t get the best for cheap.

I really hope this isn’t just another rumor.

There needs to be a substantial performance increase for me to consider upgrading from my 4090 to a 5090.

If you already have a 4080 or 4090, there’s no point in upgrading so soon.

@Lee
Exactly why I’m waiting to see the actual performance differences first.

Are all these VRAM utilization tests done at ‘MAX’ settings? If so, couldn’t you just lower the settings from ‘ULTRA’ to ‘HIGH’ at 1080p to reduce VRAM usage?

People use these GPUs for more than gaming, like video editing and 3D modeling, which can really benefit from the extra VRAM.

@Hayes
Why doesn’t the discussion about newer tech like DLSS come up as often in these VRAM debates?
