I’d go for Lenovo. I bought MSI this last weekend because of the sale price as well and got it refunded to get an ASUS TUF. Absolutely most reviews of MSI are really, really bad. It’s budget-friendly but apparently has a lot of issues long term.
@Jagger
MSI low end is bad, but MSI Vector is solid. It’s their high-end product.

Actually, Titan is their high-end product, and after that, Stealth.

Does that mean Vector can’t be their high-end model too? (It is).
For only 150 bucks difference, Legion is definitely the way to go. Its build quality is simply on another level compared to MSI. Performance-wise, MSI is better; it gets literally the best scores on benchmarks (solid 20k graphics score on 3DMark TimeSpy vs average score of 18k for 4080), but its build quality is mediocre, and GOD IT’S LOUD. You can watch reviews of both on Jarrod’s Tech YouTube channel. He is THE guy for this stuff.
Both are decent, but I’d say that the Legion is the better overall laptop.
Every person I know who has ever bought a Lenovo has had it for a long time. Lenovo has its issues like any brand, but the quality is overall my favorite.
Hey guys, looking to get a new laptop to play some CS2 among other things. If we are strictly talking CS2 performance overall, which of these two laptops would be better? Also, if you know of other deals in this price range that are better, let me know please. Thanks.
@Oran
If you are just gaming and battery life is important for you, go for the TUF. If battery life is not important and you want to carry out some productivity work, then go with the LOQ. In the case of CS2, pick the option with the better benchmarks as I can’t really tell the exact figures.
@True
Since the performance of each varies from game to game based on brand optimization.
@Oran
If you can increase the budget and have a Microcenter near you, go for this: Lenovo Legion Slim 5 16ARP9.
@True
Wish there was one close by, but there’s not. I’m thinking I’m leaning towards the ASUS.
I’ve been told here that MSI is a no-go.

Yeah, the cheaper models. The Thin series and maybe some parts of the Katana series lack in build quality and cooling, but the Vector is a great option.
Have you considered the ASUS ROG Strix G18? Just picked one up this morning. Chose it over the Lenovo Pro.

How much did you pay for it?
Go with the Legion. The MSI isn’t bad, as people say, but it has a significantly worse screen and battery life. Only go with it if it was significantly cheaper.
This is 100% a brand preference thing. I’d pick whichever is lower priced personally.
The Legion for sure. I have an MSI Creator Z16 and a Lenovo Legion 5i. The MSI can’t hold a candle to the Lenovo.
