This was a private sale, originally priced around $3250. If you were in my position, would you take this offer or wait for the 5070ti, even though the 4090’s performance with DLSS is technically comparable?
I would buy it.

No GPU should only have 8GB VRAM right now, that’s my opinion, whether it’s a laptop or desktop.

Would you choose a 3080ti mobile over a 4070mobile?
@Tru
I’d pick the 3080ti because of the VRAM. Yes, you wouldn’t get next-gen frame generation, but 16GB VRAM versus 8GB VRAM is an easy choice for me. The way games are evolving, 8GB as a minimum is becoming more common. If you’re not worried about that for your use case, then the 4070 with the new frame generation could be solid. If you want to play brand new AAA games for a long time, more VRAM will benefit you. If you just want something that runs the games you love, then the 4070 is solid.
@Wes
The thing is that I will only be playing in 1080p, so I’m not sure if the extra 8GB is worth it for being a generation behind.

Get the one with better price, warranty or battery life in that case.

I think it depends on how long you want this laptop to last and what you’re doing with it. If you’re going to keep the laptop as long as you feasibly can then 16GB is probably going to give you a bit more time. If you don’t care about always playing brand new AAA single-player games on high/ultra, then the 4070 is solid for you. There are other things to consider like lower power draw from the 4070, and DLSS 3 and frame generation in general.

How’d you get it to $1800?
@Levi
Contact them directly. But even at the current price, it’s a great deal.

You’re welcome! The deal was listed on a popular deal site.
Yes, it’s great. Another popular electronics sale site is terrible though, filled with misleading affiliate links. Most offers there aren’t real deals.
Of course it’s a 4090. I bought my 4080 for $2100 a year ago. Now I sold it so I can buy a 5090 tower.

You just wasted so much money for no reason. You got caught in the trap of upgrading PC parts every year. Your 4080 can do max graphics for like 5-8 years. But it’s your money, I guess.
@Leighton
But this isn’t a matter of upgrading every year; they went from a 4080 mobile to 5090 desktop.

Some people just like having the best, and if they have the money, more power to them. I’m a huge tech nerd and would be an enthusiast if I had the money.
