● Lenovo Legion Slim 5
● Ryzen 7 8845HS
● RTX 4060
It cost me right at $1100 with taxes and everything. The last time I owned a PC, I was a huge CS:S player, but then life happened. I’m excited to check out some of the new games out there.

Man, you have no idea how good things are now! So many amazing games, and many are super cheap or even free. Make sure to set up an Epic Games account—they give away free games regularly. Also, check out isthereanydeal dot com to track game deals and freebies.
For a recommendation, I’d suggest trying Hunt: Showdown. If you liked PvP games back in the day, this extraction shooter might be up your alley. Welcome back and congrats on your new system. Hope it serves you well!
That’s great to hear! Congrats and welcome back to PC gaming!
Congrats! Can you keep us updated on how it performs? I’m considering getting something similar for my 13-year-old. Are these specs decent?
Laptop: 16.1" FHD Gaming Laptop, AMD Ryzen 7 5825U, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Windows 11, Graphite, WiFi 6, Backlit KB.
@Skyler
Those are decent specs for gaming, but it depends on whether it has a dedicated GPU. Without one (and it doesn’t sound like it does since you didn’t list it), it’s not ideal for gaming. Let us know your budget, and we can help find something better suited.
@Auden
Thanks for the info! My budget is $500-$600.

With that budget, you can score a solid deal during Black Friday. If you’re in the US or Canada, check out Best Buy. For example, this Lenovo LOQ is excellent at $700, and open-box deals bring it down to $635. It’s one of the best budget gaming laptops.
Look for something with an NVIDIA 4050 or 3060 GPU. Avoid 3050 as they’re not great for their price. This Lenovo LOQ is worth stretching your budget for—it’s well-built and will last. It also depends on what kind of gaming your child plans to do.
Congratulations! Hope you enjoy your new machine.

Are you near a Micro Center?

I’m not. Never heard of it, actually. I live in a small rural town in Georgia.

Ah, got it. How far are you from Marietta or Duluth?
@Branley
About two hours away.

Hmm, not sure if the trip would be worth it for you, but Micro Center has a sale where you can get similar specs for $699. I just returned a laptop I bought for my daughter and went there for the deal. If you’re willing to make the drive, it could save you $400.
Here’s the link, just in case it’s worth it. You don’t have to pay until you pick it up, and they’ll hold it for you:
@Branley
That’s a tempting offer, but I’d only be able to make that trip on the weekend, and I really want this laptop for the Thanksgiving break. Mine arrives Tuesday, so I can dive into gaming during the break!
@Davin
Totally understandable! Your laptop is fantastic, and that’s all that matters. Maybe check Micro Center mid-week to see if they still have it, just in case. If the return window is still open on your order, you could consider it, but either way, you’ll love your new laptop. Enjoy!

I’m new here too, but I agree. This place is awesome!
I also have a Legion Slim 5. You’re going to love it, especially after being away from PCs for so long!
Legion is a solid brand. You’re in for a treat. Enjoy!
