The vividness and detail in HDR LED displays are truly a feast for the eyes. Whether you’re gaming or watching movies, the quality is undeniable.
Mini-LED screens offer a notable improvement over traditional IPS LCD screens, especially in terms of brightness and contrast.

Just a note, OLED still holds the crown for contrast with its perfect blacks. Mini-LEDs do have some blooming issues. However, they excel in brightness and are more durable due to no burn-in issues. Future OLED technology like Tandem OLEDs coming in 2025 promise even better performance with 1000 Nit SDR and 1600 Nit peak brightness and improved burn-in resistance, which could change the game.
@Sky
Yes, I was comparing Mini-LEDs specifically to IPS LCDs, not OLEDs. OLEDs definitely have superior blacks and contrast.

Understood, my apologies for the confusion. I’m also quite excited for the upcoming Tandem OLEDs!

Mini-LED is superior to IPS in many ways, especially if the blooming is well managed.
@Ellis
If it weren’t for the less powerful 4050 GPU, I would’ve definitely gone for it.

Honestly, I think even the RT4010 would be a better fit in it!

There are rumors about the RT4010, but it’s probably best not to stir things up too much.
@Tate
Fair point… we’ll see what the future holds!

For me, the current GPU power is sufficient.

That’s great to hear!
Considering an Acer Nitro 5. Does anyone have insights on its display quality, especially the color accuracy and brightness? The specs list a 144Hz refresh rate which is great, but I’m curious about the overall display performance.
@Teo
The Acer Nitro you’re looking at has a 300 nit brightness and 45% NTSC color gamut, which isn’t top-notch for color accuracy or brightness. This is typical for more budget-friendly models.

That’s a bit disappointing, but I guess it’s a trade-off for a more budget-friendly price. Thanks for the info!
@Teo
Exactly, it’s all about balancing cost and features. If it’s the best display you’ve used, it’ll likely still impress you.
The colors and brightness from my IPS monitor with a 60% color gamut are beautiful.
I’m curious about the model you have—4080 or 4070? I own the 4060. How do the temperatures fare during regular use and gaming? My unit hits 65 to 75 degrees just browsing.

I have the 480 with 12GB VRAM. While gaming, the GPU stays around 70C, the CPU around 80C, and the motherboard reaches 85C. I always keep it elevated to manage heat.
