I am getting only 30 fps in GTA 5; it's an Acer Aspire 7 with an RTX 3050 4GB graphics card (Indian version)

Use MSI Afterburner; it shows CPU and GPU temps too. If the CPU/GPU temps are high, you might need to change the thermal paste. Otherwise, every laptop has different modes, so check YouTube for advice. Make sure to run it in performance mode for gaming.

I’ll try that tomorrow.

It’s likely due to the modes. If thermal throttling occurs (which is rare), you might need to spend 800-900 rupees to get PTM7950 thermal pads.

@Onyx
Bro, is that covered under warranty?

I don’t think the company will help you, man. But you’ll eventually need to change the thermal paste anyway, which will cost you. So it’s better to spend 900 rupees on PTM7950 thermal pads; once you install them, you won’t need to change them for 5 years. Just keep your laptop clean.

@Onyx
Okay, thanks! :heart:

Bro really said Indian version.

Sorry! :see_no_evil:

Is it plugged in? Is your dGPU on? Are your drivers updated? Check your game settings too.

Yes, it’s plugged in. I think it’s updated, and the graphics settings are quite high.

I have the same issue. I have an RX 7700S and an R7 7735HS, and I should be able to get around 100 fps easily, but I’m usually stuck at around 60. My GPU never exceeds 60% utilization, and the clock speed never reaches max. This game is old and doesn’t utilize multiple CPU cores effectively, so I suspect the CPU is the bottleneck. Try increasing the settings a bit to get your GPU working harder. What’s your GPU speed in MHz while playing? You can use MSI Afterburner to check.

@Tobin
Okay, so we have to just use it as it is.

Maybe your V-Sync option is set to half.

Did you just update your game?

Check your CPU/GPU temperatures under load. Is it plugged in and running in high performance mode through your laptop’s software?

Check your game settings to see if your fps is capped. Also, in power settings, ensure the best performance option is selected, not best power efficiency. Your laptop should have come with Acer software that has a performance mode. After all this, go to graphics settings in GTA 5 and select high performance. This is usually selected to let Windows decide.

Let GeForce Experience or the Nvidia app optimize your graphics settings. Make sure you have enough RAM, like 16GB or 32GB. Switch your power mode to best performance in Windows settings. Also, ensure that Windows is using your GPU for GTA 5.

Disable V-Sync. If you have any power options, set them to full performance. Make sure there’s no fps limiter at all. If you do this, you’ll likely get the best performance possible.

Is the game running smoothly?
