I found a deal on Facebook Marketplace for a Lenovo Legion 7. Here are the specs:
- CPU: Ryzen 9 5900HX
- GPU: RTX 3080 16GB 165W
- Display: 16” QHD 165Hz
- Storage: 2TB
- RAM: 32GB DDR4 3200
I’ve heard this might be better than a laptop with a 4070. Is that true?

It’s definitely a good laptop overall, assuming it’s in good used condition and everything works as it should.

Yes, it’s in good condition and still has 14 months of warranty left. How does the 3080 with 165W compare to the 4070 with 140W?

The 3080 with 165W offers similar or slightly better performance in pure rasterization for games and has twice the VRAM compared to the 4070.

Would you pick the 3080 over the 4070, even though the 3080 doesn’t support DLSS 3? Or does the 16GB VRAM of the 3080 make up for the lack of DLSS?

Frame generation is only supported on the RTX 40 series, but both the 3080 and 4070 support DLSS and Ray Tracing. Plus, both can use AMD’s FSR 3.
I’d still go with the 3080. The Legion 7 from 2021 has a decent screen, nice RGB lighting, and a good build quality.
