I’ve always been a desktop user, but this Christmas I received the ASUS TUF A15 (2023) as a gift! Any advice for a first-time gaming laptop owner? I’m absolutely loving the 144hz panel—it’s incredibly smooth! I plan to use it for heavy gaming and 3D modeling. The RTX 4050 GPU and 16GBs of DDR5 RAM seem perfect for my needs.
Sweet!
Congrats! If it ever gets too hot, try using G-Helper to underclock/undervolt the CPU and GPU. Also, consider getting a cooling pad to help extend the life of your laptop by keeping it cooler.
Congratulations and happy gaming!
Curious why you switched to a laptop, but congrats on the new gear!

Needed it for work and portability—can’t exactly lug my desktop around!
Nice, but be sure to remove any ASUS bloatware if it’s installed. Instead, use G-helper. To remove the bloatware, you’ll need to visit their support site and use the armory crate uninstaller.
Things we love to see!
I spent a year saving up for that bad boy, and man, do I love the ASUS TUF A15!

I got one with a Ryzen 7 7735HS and an RTX 4060m for a great deal—feels like a steal compared to others priced higher for similar specs.
@Brady
I snagged mine for an even better price, but it has a Ryzen 7 7435HS instead.
How are the thermals? And what’s the battery life like during normal use?

It stays around 53°C idle and hits 85°C during intense gaming sessions. Haven’t fully tested the battery yet, but I use eco mode to extend life when unplugged.
Congratulations!
Keep some cleaning wipes and isopropyl alcohol handy to keep your laptop clean and functioning well.

Absolutely, need to keep it clean and dust-free!
Nice
If it came with any pre-installed antivirus like McAfee or Norton, consider uninstalling it. Check the MyASus software to limit the battery charge to 60% or 80% to prolong its lifespan.
Don’t forget to adjust the RGB settings for extra performance, red is great for boosting FPS!
Congrats on the new laptop!
