The ROG Flow X16 paired with the 4090 XG Mobile is all set up and running

I’ve also got a MadCatz mouse on the way for when I want to switch things up.

Elite Series 2 user here—the best controller around! Fellow Cyberpunk fan, too. That definitely made me smile.

Looks great, but it’s probably not within reach for most people. I’m guessing this setup costs around $4,000 to $4,500, considering the 4090 eGPU alone is likely as expensive as a desktop 4090.

Exactly, but when you have an Ultimate Spider-Man #1 variant cover just lying around, you can trade it with a friend who owns an electronics/computer shop for the eGPU.

Yeah, it’s crazy that the eGPU is actually more expensive than the full-sized 4090! I guess that’s the price you pay for a niche product.

How is it? I was considering getting an eGPU for my laptop, but the prices were pretty steep. Since I don’t really need the portability anymore, I decided to just build a PC instead—which I ended up doing.

The XG Mobile is an exclusive ASUS ROG item specifically for the Flow series. You can’t use it with any other device on the market, not even other ASUS/ROG devices, so it’s quite limited in that regard. It features a proprietary connection that provides more PCIe lanes than Thunderbolt 4, significantly reducing bottlenecks to almost zero, or at least to the point where they’re not noticeable.

Actually, no, you can also use the XG Mobile with the ROG Ally. While it’s primarily designed for the Flow series, it’s not entirely exclusive, making it a bit more versatile. The proprietary connection still offers more PCIe lanes than Thunderbolt 4, which helps reduce bottlenecks to nearly zero or to an unnoticeable level.

Oh, right! I forgot abt that. It works with the first-gen ROG Ally, but the Ally X removed that connection. Not sure why they decided to drop it.
