What are your thoughts on the best and worst laptop brands for gaming

Hello I’m planning to purchase a gaming laptop before the end of the year. However, I keep encountering issues with various brands. For instance, Acer laptops have screen bleeding, Lenovo suffers from motherboard problems, and HP laptops tend to have unstable screens. Could you share which brands have given you the most trouble and which you recommend within a budget of about $850, preferably with an H processor and RTX 3050 4GB? Thanks for your insights!

I’ve found MSI to generally have poor quality control, particularly with their hinges.

Have you encountered any issues with your HP Omen models?

Actually, I haven’t had any problems with my HP Omens from 2018 and 2022.

@Harlem
My 2019 Omen was really durable.

That’s great to hear.

HP makes reliable laptops! My Omen from January 2020 is still going strong without any issues.

I’m also wary of MSI despite their variety, as I don’t trust their reliability.

I almost chose MSI in 2018 but decided against it, and I’m glad I did.

It seems model dependent. My MSI Alpha 15 has been perfect—no hinge issues and great performance and battery life.

@Van
It’s really a hit or miss with MSI, honestly.

My MSI Raider GE76 is the best in terms of build quality and performance I’ve ever had.

@Teo
I have the same model, and it’s been awesome.

I had an MSI GE62 until 2020. It was good, but after four years, the battery died and the fans became very loud.

I’ve had good experiences with several Lenovo laptops and none have given me issues. I would never buy HP again though, as their quality is poor.

Agreed, HP is a brand I would avoid in the future.

@Wei
I once bought an HP to replace an old PC and ended up reverting to the old PC because the HP was so disappointing.

I regretted selling my previous laptop for an HP. I ended up buying a Lenovo Legion and wouldn’t even consider selling the HP, out of shame.

@Wei
What’s so bad about HP? I’ve had an HP Omen for over 7.5 years and it’s still performing well.

I haven’t used their laptops, but their printers are notoriously problematic.
