Worth the extra $?

I think of it in terms of a percentage difference, rather than absolute dollars.

On average, the 4070 is about 20% faster than the 4060, so I’d be willing to spend 20% more money to get that performance. If $400 is like 30%+ more money then I’d probably have second thoughts.

@Fife
Thanks for the analogy you absolute legend

@Fife
It’s about 40% more in cost. So it really isn’t worth the upgrade to have a 4070 with the 32gb with that kind of price difference?

Not Jarrod but not worth it imo, especially as the RAM is upgradable

@Avery
yeah this, both are still 8gb VRAM, maybe if there was a difference a bigger price gap could be more justified.

Thanks so much for all your help! Your videos were actually the ones that came up when I initially started searching

@Denny
Cool hope they were useful :slight_smile:

@Avery
And the cheaper one will still run a game like planet coaster 2 well? It’s better than the recommended specs. I’m just nervous I’ll spend all this money and it’ll run awful. I honestly just know nothing about computers

@Denny
Both models should run well. I can’t really find exactly how PC2 would scale with more CPU cores or the max amount of cores/threads it can use. The i9 has 4 extra small cores but these only show its benefits in creative tasks and not gaming.

@Avery
Okay thank you! I’m going to go with the cheaper one!

Np! Feel free to ask others if you want a second opinion.

We only cover gaming laptops, sorry.

What’s the price of both? No need to hide it

Happy cake day

4070 is not worth the more $400 unless you need it badly

For $400 you won’t get enough gaming performance, so unless you have very cpu heavy tasks 4060 will do the job

I’d just get the 4060.

The RTX 4070 is at best 20% faster than the RTX 4060 in games, based on the price difference and the % increase in cost of the RTX 4070 over the 4060, the RTX 4060 is definitely the better deal here.

Ram and storage is completely user upgradable for this laptop, 2 ram slots and two NVME SSD slots.
